PrayerThy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory, for ever. Amen." These are the words that Jesus taught his disciples when asked how to pray. (King James Version of the Bible - the book of Matthew chapter 6 verses 9-13) There was a time in the UK when every child was taught this prayer, known as 'The Lord's Prayer', whilst at school but sadly this is no longer the case. Generations now no longer have this prayer 'hidden' in their hearts. Neither do they know the truths contained in the Bible about Father God who longs to have a personal relationship with them and how He made it possible by sending His only Son, Jesus to take their punishment for them for the sins (or debts) they have done against themselves, others or that others have done against them. So many people are not in a position to pray for themselves as they are unaware of the God of the Bible who created them.
If you believe that prayer does change situations and circumstances then please join us in praying each day for different people. Remember that this is a spiritual battle, so when you see items in the news, lift those situations to the Lord as well. Please encourage others to join you in praying, or you may feel more comfortable praying in your own home by yourself. Praying is something that can be done at any time of the day - whilst travelling in a car, bus or train, when out walking or at any time when you have a few minutes to spare. Look around you and think - could that stranger be hurting and in need of prayer? Could they have been affected in some way by a child that has been killed by abortion? Thank you for caring enough to pray for the healing of the nations. Our prayer is that you, too, will find the peace that passes understanding, as you reach out for others in prayer. Please see our sister site United for Life for further information on these and other prayer topics. A booklet of these prayer pages is available as a printable PDF download to assist you in praying whilst away from the computer. It uses 3 double sided A4 sheets of paper. | ||||||||
